Yeah, that's right. I said "gab-blab." LoL It's just something one of my guy friends (annoyingly LoL) likes to say whenever he wants to talk in the general/discussion sense.

ANYWAY! Seeing as we'd never gotten a definite/positive yay or nay upon making a chat room for the group, TO discuss various aspects of the series (or to chat in general from time to time), for now, we'll do this. LoL

That is, every now and again, new blog entries will be made (besides for other/various group issues, etc) to focus upon certain elements of the series (i.e. Characters, plot, specific seasons/episodes, etc).

THIS time, as its first, I've decided to focus upon season 3, seeing as it IS the latest season, after all. :p

So, here's how it goes. I do these lil' blog discussions, get the ball rolling with putting in my own two cents, then the rest of you can (or cannot) choose to contribute, as well. But have fun trying to sift through God only knows how many future comments which may roll in, as a result. LoL

WARNING: POSSIBLE SPOILERS BEYOND THIS POINT! READ AT OWN RISK, PLEASE!!

Okay! So, honestly?? While I am happy the series came back (finally) with its latest season, and on the whole I don't mind it, as of LATELY, anyway, it's been starting to sort of fall apart and, as a result, irk me just a teeny tiny bit. =/ LoL

That is, to ME, anyway, the series on the whole seems to have begun its descent into "jumping the shark," as it were, sadly. :(

First off, it starts off with a pretty strong/interesting note, despite having lost Emma (whom I really do miss...bleh :( ), but immediately dives into (no pun intended LoL) its core, main plot/A-Story, of "what's up with the Moon Pool and water 'attacking' us??" deal. And you get introduced to the new/main characters in one shot, as well.

Okay. Fine.

But it seems like, after episode 13, once Lewis left for the States (I'll be sure to say "Hi" to him if I see 'em, now that he's here on my turf, so to speak LoL j/k), the series has sort of begun to fall apart and lose its (kinda) steady focus.

It had its established B-Story, of Will and Bella being attracted to one another and all that, and even its minor C-Story of Sophie being a nuisance (which she still is, but whatever LoL). But NOW, lately, you're unsure of "Wait...IS that still into play, here??" with those two being into each other, or at least Will still being into Bella, ever since he nearly drowned and Rikki had to save him (Can we say, season 1/Emma saving Zane, much? o_O).

Now he's apparently infatuated/attracted to HER, while Bella still wants him (although lately, not counting the most recent episode, anyway, you can't even really tell THAT anymore, since like I said, things just seem different/changed on the whole).

Honestly, all "venting" aside on that note, I'm all for Rikki/Will. LoL IDK. Something about those two together...it just seems "right" or at least more preferred (for me) than Bella/Will. Then again, Will DID seem kinda into Rikki by default in the second episode, when he was pushing up on her to know more about Mako Island, etc, before getting bombarded with Bella's naturally gabby self and those two finding common ground with one another, as a result. Ah, well. LoL

THEN, you have, YET again, "Oh, noes! Rikki and Zane are on the rocks??" No...REALLY?? Either break them up for good, or keep them together and stop having "major crises" all the time, production crew, seriously. 'Cause all of that drama/nonsense is season 1 territory, thanks. ~_~'

Speaking of, though, that's another thing which is really beginning to grind my gears: Rikki's (stupid, IMO, sorry LoL) newfound behavior as of late. I get that she had her little "religious experience" with the "Water Tentacle" and all, fine. But, really? Keeping secrets AGAIN from the mermaid club? Really? AGAIN??

Didn't she learn her lesson the LAST time she decided to be sneaky about her involvement with Zane, and how that indirectly put her on the outs with Cleo and Emma, as a result, with the whole "choose him, or choose us" bit?? NOW, here she goes again, only this time getting "involved" with her new secret best friend, Mr. Tentacle.

And then, besides her growing annoyances (for me), there's Cleo, whom I'd expected they'd write into the show her "constantly" referring to Lewis. Missing him, hearing from him, getting letters, or what have you. But nothing. It's like all the drama and woe from episode 13 when she first found out he was leaving, and their heartfelt goodbyes never happened. Episode 14 comes around, and she's just "Whatever. Another new day! Yay!", like she's been single all this time, and "Lewis, who??"

I certainly expected a mention of Lewis, from ANY of them, I don't care, in the immediate episode thereafter, but there was nothing.

And NOW, you've got that scientist dude whose name escapes me (Oh, well), and of COURSE he'd be into Cleo (even though he's probably 26 and slightly older, and she's only 18 or 17 going on 18, since I forget her birthday). That's fine, whatever. But SHE'S apparently feeling HIM, as indicated in that "look back" they'd both done after parting ways in the latest episode.

What happened to "I love you so much, Lewis!" and tears and all that? I highly doubt it's even been a month since he's been gone, and even if it has been, already?? Really, Cleo?? Apparently getting new glasses has made both your eyes and mind much more clear upon what/who it is you truly want, then. ~_~

Poor Lewis; he was right to be avidly worried that "everything will change" (which I kinda figured, anyway, since they ARE young yet, after all, but still).

Oh, yeah. I know (as I'm sure a lot of you who've been watching it, as well) that Rikki and Cleo would/will be getting their new necklaces and all that like Bella's, but well before the season started to air and I'd first found out about that, I was never behind it.

Because it's like, what if Emma comes back to visit every summer or something to catch up, or Hell, moves back, period (I'm not talking that it's actually going to happen/air in the series, of course, just in general)?? Those necklaces Max made for the "original mermaids" were everything to the girls, and bound them all the more together as best friends and as the "mermaid trio." Look at how devastated Cleo was (more or less) when Charlotte had pinched it from her. And now, after all that, they swap them in for special Moon rock necklaces??

Make a BRACELET out of them, if you have to have it on your person and "be like Bella." Or better yet, have Max (if he's even still around or still alive, no disrespect LoL) make alterations to the lockets and sort of graft the pieces of Moon rock INTO/onto them. THAT way, Bella won't feel alone wearing it (the piece of Moon rock), and the others can still wear their lockets. OR, even better still, just MAKE a damned locket for Bella, too. ~_~'

Just saying here, the whole "we have to have all 3 girls look the same again" aspect by making them wear the same necklaces is a bit much, and sort of a flagrant dismissal upon the original core aspect/bond/friendship that had been established between Emma/Rikki/Cleo, etc. . . .  ~_~'

Like I said, it's because of all of this that I personally feel the series is beginning the treacherous path of jumping the shark, here. Still love the show, support it, and very happy/grateful for the new season, but it doesn't mean I agree with/am happy with EVERYthing that's been going on as of late.

. . . . I'M done, now. LoL Your guys turn! :p

~ Ellie, or :iconsokai-sama:

EDIT (3/7/10) Eeeyeah. Dunno how I could have forgotten to stipulate one of the most important (and ESSENTIAL, oh my GOD, is it ever ~_~ LoL) and golden rules of "discussions/debates:" We shall all respect everyone's opinion/feelings. Weeeeeeee. LoL Because, seriously here? I generally avoid bothering to express myself on this joint half the time (well, in any other place save my own personal blog, anyway) because there's usually someone lurking about to pounce on me as though it's a crime to do precisely that. :p Plus, I'm not for the drama, and I'm sure none of you are. So, yeah! We shall all be hippies and love one another while we gab-blab away about this show! Okay! I'm off! WHOOSH!! *Flies off*

i think ur completely wrong XP i dnt think at all tht its starting to fall after lewis left it sucks tht he left because i love lewis but the show moves on like emma. i do think tht cleo moved on very fast for someone she loved but not so much tht its ruining the story at all. the whole rikki and will thing is ok but the fact tht u compared it to zane and emma no not close at all. and her meeting the water tentacle and hiding it i get tht she shouldnt hav hid tht but she panicked and shes changing u guy keep looking at them as a humans there not human emotions dnt apply to them because they hav things tht WILL AND CAN control them like the full moon so her behavior is not her fault its the moon pools
